Hodges Flume, San Dieguito River Park, 10 April 2009.
Lake Hodges and the Lake Hodges Flume were completed in 1918. The dam and flume supplied water to the Rancho Santa Fe reservoir and communtiy. This flume is no longer in use, having been bypassed by a concrete pipe. I've heard this flume described as a "white elephant". No one wants it...no one wants to see it go away. I enjoy seeing this reminder of the past.
