FAQ's

Q: Jim, why do you photograph panoramas?

A:  Well, some things we love...some things we like...some things we don't like.  You know how it goes.  Most everyone likes different things.

I photograph panoramas for several reasons:

  • I love panoramas.  They are a passion with me.
  • I seen them.  When I look around I see panoramas...both horizontal and vertical.
  • My panoramas are all composed of multiple images...so another reason is 'lots of detail'.
  • My goal is to leave a photographic record for the future.  Most images are composed of a subject.  My panoramas not only have a subject...but also the subject setting.  I think that 'setting' is very important.  Panoramas allow the recording of the setting.
  • Panoramas are different.  I like different.
  • Panoramas are not accidental...they are intentional.  Photographing a panorama is a workflow in itself.  Then the stitching, optimizing, titling, describing, and geotagging.  This all takes time.  My limit seems to be about 12 a month.  Sometimes as few as none.  Panoramas are not snap-shots.  Panoramas have more value than snap-shots.
  • I photograph panoramas because "that's who I am".
My Artist Statement contains a bit more detail.

Q: How can I see all of the panoramas?

A:  The easiest way to see most of the panoramas is to go to PanoramaJim.com.  Most of the panoramas are there.  PanoramaJim.com is the main repository of Jim's panoramas.

Additionally, all panoramas are being added to this James Coffee Studios website in the form of RSS fed articles.  If you want to receive the newly posted images in your reader subscribe to the feed.
Copy this link and paste it into your RSS Reader.

As time moves forward all newly created panoramas will be posted to PanoramaJim.com and to this website.
At this time all 2009 Panoramas have been added to this website.  2008 will be next, followed by 2007, etc.

Q: What is the best way for me to learn about your name tags?

A:  It's easy.  Either go to WoodenNameTags.com or give Jim a call (541-247-9779, Pacific time zone).

Q: How do I use the RSS Feed Links?

A:  Clicking on the links does not work, does it?  What you need to do is subscribe to the link.  The way that you do this is to right mouse the link and click "copy link".  You then open your RSS Feed Reader (I use the Google RSS Reader, and there are others).  You click on Subscribe and paste (Control V) the link into the text box.  Bingo...you've subscribed!  RSS is great, and it's easy...once you understand.
